Lately, when buying bottled water, consumers are asked to check the bottom of the bottle, in order to protect their health.
Plastic bottles marked with letters like HDP, HDPE, PP and some others do not release toxic materials into the water, and the other letters may represent the chemicals in the water you drink.
Each brand must indicate the contents of the bottle, and we offer you some help in recognizing toxic water bottles.
PET or PETE – it’s used for disposable bottles. These bottles can release heavy metals and chemicals that affect hormonal balance.
HDPE – a plastic that releases virtually no chemicals. Experts recommend choosing these bottles when buying bottled water, as it’s probably the healthiest water you can find on the market.
PVC or 3V – releases two toxic chemicals that affect the hormones in your body.
LDPE – this plastic material cannot be used to make bottles, plastic bags even if it does not release chemicals into the water.
PP – another white or semi-transparent plastic material, used as packaging for syrups and yogurt pots.
PS – releases carcinogenic substances, and is commonly used to produce coffee cups and fast food bags.
PC or unlabeled plastic – the most dangerous plastic in food production that releases BPA chemicals, and it is often used to produce water bottles for sports and food containers.
From today onwards, check the bottom of the bottle twice rather than once!
